Here It Was: A mix of 1920's, 1950's and 1970's
My guess is that the house stayed pretty much original throughout the Martin's residency.
Then perhaps Mr. Millaway's big remodeling project in 1957 was to update the kitchen
for his wife with a beautiful, ultra-modern General Electric suite of appliances
and metal cabinetry.
The decades passed and the cabinetry served my family well, but now they look like
something more suited for a mechanic's garage.
The floor linoleum was blue, 9"x9" classroom tile that was thankfully rubber-based
and not asbestos.
You'll see from the gallery of before pictures that there was a mud room we used for the
washer and dryer and a tiny breakfast nook where the family incredibly dined for
every meal. There was also an under-appreciated butler's pantry that will
be greatly appreciated now.
