July, and leading up to it.
6/30/2009 (4 days ago) - The meeting in Charlotte at our new web center digs went well. I was a little nervous in my presentation, but that came across as enthusiasm probably and I bet I made a good impression on the right people. Getting back in town I went to my appointment at the Skin Surgery Center and got the stitches out. Still have to wear the Steri-Strips for a week and so no swimming. At home, I started getting my house ready for showing and got the kitchen done. One room at a time. (I actually called Tommy about the door but he didn't call me back). Later in the evening, I went to the fitness center and did the elipsis for 45 min.
6/26/2009 (8 days ago) - My $299 PC arrived a day ahead of schedule but no signature was required, so they left it. XP loaded nicely but the next day, the wireless card didn't go so well causing a bit of disappointment/frustration. But I've had a better attitude about my technical potential from some successes at work. And sure enough by the end of the day I was online. So, unless it craps out soon, I think I stumbled across a remarkably good deal. Nathan visited Wednesday and I showed him the house. He seemed impressed and gave me some good suggestions. We had a nice dinner afterward at 6th & Vine. Hot and dry this week. I'm back to the fitness center again feeling it is okay to work on the upper body.
6/22/2009 (12 days ago) - It was a smooth but unexciting re-entry into the workweek today--but unexciting can be a good thing. But I might have wanted to be a little busier. After work, Kim and Jorge did call and want to test out a walk with Mira, but it didn't seem hopeful that they would adopt--probably Mira seemed not as pitiful happily joining into the walk. I learned how to pronouce plantar fasciitis today. Hey, this might be the answer. Mom was right!
6/20/2009 (14 days ago) - Today has been very hot as promised. Breakfast at Arthur's followed by me returning home and at lunchtime, I went over and took the battery cable loose from Mrs. Eickmeyer's car at Carol's request. Then I went to the fitness center after a long hiatus for an upper body workout. Not terrible, but the absence was noticed--but not terribly. I did not put any weight levels back, but they were just felt more. Serendipitously upon leaving, I went over to the Oaks and visited Mrs. Lawing. A good move. She was amazing. Yesterday early evening, emboldened by a martini, I ordered the $300 PC from TigerDirect and didn't look back. It may arrive this week. I enlisted Carol to try to get the freezer out of the Carolina basement for bulky pickup, but it was too much for us. Add to that the basement door key had broken off and I had to get in via the coal shute.
6/19/2009 (15 days ago) - Since bulk pickup, I have had my skin surgery. Although it went very well, it was a bigger chunk that I expected and the activity restrictions are better understood now. Yesterday I worked from home but had a number of distractions such as a call from Carol that she had taken her mom to the emergency room. I went over there (the NCBH ER) but was not required for much support other than picking up Happy Dog later that day at the pet groomer. But the afternoon was also occupied with accompanying the glass repair guy at the Carolina house. That turned out to be a good thing however and I used the time to take down the window hardware in the sunroom.
6/14/2009 (20 days ago) - This is the weekend before bulk trash pickup. I took my stuff out Saturday morning and trollers would pick stuff up between each trip to the roadside. At times they made quite a mess. I'll be glad when the remaining garbage is picked up.
Generally good weather all weekend--pleasant mornings and getting hot during the day, but nothing to stifle good physical activity. Saturday evening we went to hear Bob Margolin at Summer on Trade. Enjoyable. Today, I took a solo bike trip at Salem Lake but ran into Steve at the end and got a lead regarding my bathroom remodelling dilemma. Details on the blog. (Not the clog).
6/10/2009 (24 days ago) - Maybe it's the heat, but I think I've been a little lethargic the past couple of days. After a week of call, perhaps I am rewarding myself in a sense. But I do need to get back up to speed with exercise. Actually things are okay. The junk in the garage weeded out from the yard sale has made that more manageable. The house is coming along, but has seemed to taken a slight lull. I'll go over today and see if the backsplash is up. Band practice tonight and everybody promises to be there.
6/7/2009 (27 days ago) - The yard sale was a little less painful than I expected. The weather cooperated and the usual mix of neighbors, hispanics and creepy people stopped by to assess our stuff. But it ended after lunch and we were a couple hundred dollars richer. Kirk stopped by and got lunch for us which was a nice treat. I was tired in the afternoon but happily managed my power walk. We went uptown to hear Roy Roberts. This morning was pleasant, making me long to be at the beach. I rode my bike from the house all the way around the Salem Lake trail and back.
6/4/2009 (30 days ago) - Got the 832 Carolina website updated with an RSS feed from my wordpress site. Whew, life is full of updates. Busy week of call. Paint going up at house and some movement on tile and bathrooms looming. Stitches taken out of my arm and awkward Steri-strips left behind. Just got a call from Phillip. On my way to the work site now! (More updates probably).
6/1/2009 (33 days ago) - The alternator in the car gave out Saturday evening over at the Carolina house. Thanks to my AAA membership, getting it to Flow the next day was fairly painless. And although the bill will be very high, all was expected and I scored by holding out to do the timing belt. So now the Big Car Maintenance is behind me. The countertop is installed in the kitchen and things are continuing to roll along nicely at the house. I'm trying to spruce up the website. Last night, not having any of the usual DVR'ed fare, I found myself getting a movie on demand--The Day The Earth Stood Still. I was pleasantly surprized to find it to be quite good!
